New Year spectacular planned
ELLEN CHAN
More than 22,000 fireworks will light up the Lunar New Year night, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced on Tuesday.
Based on a theme of Hong Kong's past, present and future, this year's firework display will comprise twelve acts and last for 23 minutes on the second evening of the festival.
''The fifth act, named Fiery Festivities, will be very spectacular. It will not just use videoand audio, audience can also feel the heat because we will use fireworks with a thundering sound and higher temperature,'' said Alex Moh Ho-chap, director of Pyromagic Products, who will be handling the display.
The climax will be built up in the last act. Audience will see as many as 30 fireworks each second.
Mr Moh suggested the audience to bring along a radio and listen to the 12 pieces of music specially chosen for the occasion, half of them will be local pop songs.
Wan Chai, North Point and locations about two kilometres from the waterfront will be the best places to view the show.
