Estate's residents living in fear
Residents of the Tsuen Wan housing estate where policeman Leung Shing-yan was shot dead spoke yesterday of their fears as the killer remained on the loose.
One woman, 55, who lives on the same floor as the murder scene, said she was shocked by the killing. "I was inside the house alone when it happened. And then police cordoned off the whole floor. My family could not come back until midnight. I was very scared. I am still worried even now. Who knows where the murderer is?"
Another woman, whose flat is only a few units away from the murder scene, said security in the area had never been good because of a large car park near the estate.
"People of all sorts park their cars here and there are a lot of strangers coming and going all the time."
Leung's family and colleagues visited the estate yesterday and held a Taoist ritual for him. They burned joss sticks and paper money.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Tang King-shing sent condolences to the family on behalf of the force.
